The longest days have roughly 15 hours 17 minutes of sunshine. The shortest days of the year in winter have just 9 hours and 5 minutes of daylight.
There are an estimated 6.6 months of the growing season from April 15 – November 2 annually. The extended growing season and favourable climate throughout the year make for an ideal location for agriculture.
The Windsor Essex area is surrounded by several water sources, including Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, and the Detroit River flowing around Windsor. For almost a decade, the water tested in the region has received a 100% rating from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). Water is primarily provided by the municipalities closer to urban centres and towns. However, some residents continue to maintain private wells that are also regularly tested.

Wildlife in the Windsor Essex region includes familiar species such as opossums, coyotes, rabbits, and squirrels. Since the region borders lakes and rivers, there are annual reports of insect swarms for lakeside communities. Fish are also readily available throughout the region year-round, with Windsor Essex known as the "Walleye Capital of Canada."
